Prepare an Inventory of your Personal Property
Your insurance
company will ask you to provide a list of your belongings if they are stolen or
destroyed. To avoid forgetting an important item after a loss it’s a good
idea to prepare a record of your personal property ahead of time.
Remember
to record new items on your inventory list when they are purchased. It’s
also a good idea to take a photograph of each room to accompany your list.
For your
convenience you may use our pdf form for recording an inventory of your personal property.
This form requires Adobe Acrobat Reader. If Acrobat Reader is not available on
your computer you can obtain it free from here.

Store Flammables,
Poisons and Cleaners Safely
Keep flammable items like paint, varnishes,
sprays and glues away from all living areas.
Keep the location of antidotes posted where you store poisons and cleaners.
Protect
your Valuables and Expensive Purchases
Valuable items
like gold, silver and jewels should be appraised and the appraisal record should
be kept in a safe place. Take a photograph of your valuables and keep a copy of
your appraisals in a safe location outside of your home (like a safety deposit
box).
Keep valuable
papers like stocks and bonds, your will, stamp and coin collections and jewellery
that you wear infrequently in a safety deposit box.
Make sure
you add expensive purchases, such as camera equipment, to your insurance. We can
help you make sure your new purchase is covered.
